Finals

I predict David A. will win. Great performances, he gave it his all.

David Cook
1.I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For-I liked it, different than Bono, original. Could have put more physical energy into it. Sounded great, nice note at the end.
2.Dream Big-The song seemed a little contrived to me, maybe not angry enough for him, but he did well with it. Nice to hear him sing something we haven't heard before. Again I felt his energy wasn't all there.I felt he had more physical energy than that, that he was holding back a bit. Maybe he is trying to pace himself, or maybe he's exhausted from it all. He just feels a bit laid back tonight.
3.The World I Know-Nice singing, I didn't know the song, but his performance didn't pull me in. I felt him much more after he sang, than when he was singing. For me, there was a bit of a wall between him and the audience tonight.

David Archuleta
1.Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me-Good job. Why that song though? I am a huge Elton John fan, but not that song, hard to do anything different with it. That said, he was very passionate, really put his heart and soul in it. His voice sounded great!
2.In This Moment-Again the song felt so contrived. But I loved his energy, and his voice was flawless, he has such amazing technical control. He was so focused, connected and fully present. Great performance.
3.Imagine-Beautiful singing, emotionally accessible, free. What more can I say?

The winner for me tonight is David Archuleta.

Who do you think should win and why?

i have to be honest. i know you're a David A. fan, and you're a vocal coach, but I get so bored with this kid. His first song was good, but I felt like the second song sounded pushed and the third was boring. THEY WERE ALL BALLADS! David Cook has versatility. He'll do incredibly well compared to archuleta.

I totally respect your opinion. David A.'s songs tend to be sleepy, you are right. Hope they both come up with more interesting songs in their own recording careers. Thanks for all your comments this season. It's been fun hearing everyone's opinions.

I missed the whole thing tonight--was attending a special event at school with my son. Guess I can check in with YouTube to see some clips before the result show tomorrow.

Vickie, thanks for blogging this season...'twas fun! Think you'll do it again next time?

yes, vickie it was fun this year. david a has a great future ahead of him, but needs some more training w/o his dad around to mold him. his first song he really showed that he could have some personality in it though.

thanks. it's been fun and i've checked your blog all season!

Okay, I'm all caught up now...thank you, YouTube!

I really do enjoy both Davids for different reasons...but in the end, I choose Archuletta.

I also think he'll be America's pick because I feel his beautiful unique vocal stylings appeal to a wider range of listeners than David C. might.

I love both Davids. Feel David C didn't give it his all - seemed tired. David A did a beautifil job but could have used some variety. Originally I wanted David A to win but now I think David C is more of an American Idol - he can make any song his own. That said, my guess is David A will win. I'm sure both will have long performing careers.

Vickie, thanks for the blog! I had fun reading it, and all the comments.
